The perfect Jumper for your shape.
The days are getting short, the leaves are turning gold, and the temperature is dipping. Some of us are avoiding turning on the heating, and others have lit the fire for the first time already. The best thing about this time of year is snuggling up in your favourite jumper, whether it’s to sit in front of the telly with a hot drink or wrap up to go for a walk. But which jumper will you fall in love with this year, and do you struggle to find the best match for you?
Let me help guide you through a few simple tips on getting the best shape fit and inspire you with this season's best picks.
It’s important to think first about budget and cost per wear. While not everyone can afford a £100 jumper, Patrick Grant shared a great video online about how his more expensive jumper—Sewing Bee on Instagram:http://bit.ly/3KjqUmv #SewingBee . Try looking at more expensive, long-lasting brands on Vinted or, at the end of the season, shop their sale for next year's wardrobe.
Let's talk scale vs style personality.
It’s easy for me to share the rules, but as I always say, rules are there to be broken (for some of us). If you are a classic, you will want to stick to the rules. If you are dramatic or creative, you are more likely to break the rules and still look fab. But here are a few suggestions.
If you are petite, very slim, or avoid big chunky knits that will drown you and make you look smaller. Try a fine knit or slim fit if that works for you.
A V-neck is great for most of us. It draws the eye up on a pear, flatters a smaller chest, and can elongate the neck. It can create a slimming effect. It also suits a rectangle and hourglass. But if you are athletic with broad shoulders, balance with wider trousers.
High neck jumpers are better for smaller chests. If you have a larger chest, add a large print or chunky necklace to break up the space.
Colours that last the test of time are often your best neutral like cream, chocolate or navy. But your best shades will also last. I love my light pink jumpers every year. And this year pink in on trend for Autumn a is lime and olive green.
For me, cheaper jumpers can make me sweat more and don’t always last. Consider how often you wash them to help them last longer. Invest in a debobbler to freshen up old garments and buy items you know you will wear over 30 times. That way you can say you shopped conciously even if opting for cheaper brands.
Which of these jumper colours are you most drawn to? Or are they too simple for you?
Here are my recomendations for your colour type.

One great tip I can give is to consider if you are bottom heavy or top heavy. If you are top heavy go for a fine nit and keep it simple. Add volume to the bottom half. If you are bottom heavy, go for a chunky knit and keep it light, floaty and simple on the lower half.
